"Mankind at a Crossroad", Istanbul, April 2017
„Never since its creation 60 years ago has the European Union experienced a crisis as deep and comprehensive as the present one. The Union that we see today it is only a pale offshoot of its progenitor. The primordial ideas and goals of its founders: peace and cooperation; equality between Member States and peoples, regardless of their size; strict observance of fundamental human rights; common policy based on international law and recognition of the unlimited diversity of today’s and tomorrow’s world, quite evidently diverge with the current realities.“
This was emphasized by Prof.Dr. Zahari Zahariev in his speech at the 20th Eurasian Economic Summit, held in Istanbul on 5 and 6 April 2017, organized by the Marmara Group Foundation on the subject: "Mankind at a Crossroad".
More than 200 statesmen, scientists, businessmen and religious officials from 44 countries took part in the work of the high forum. In addition to its president Prof. Zahari Zahariev, the Slavyani Foundation was represented by its executive director, Dr. Nikolay Tomov.
